WRKC Member Update

AGM

The WRKC board has chosen to postpone the AGM. The decision has been made due to logistical concerns about voting and meeting all the legal requirements. Currently, the board is proposing to host a brief AGM at the beginning of the racing season, hosted at Flamboro Speedway. Proper notification will be provided at a later date.

WRKC had received 3 nominations for the 4 open 2021 board member positions. The nominations were: Steve Adams, Dean Ramsbottom and Andrew Grinyer. These nominations have been accepted. The 2021 board is:

  • Jake Collison
  • TJ Marshall
  • Jody Prince
  • Jason Bowden
  • Jeremy Riopelle
  • Valerio DeMenna
  • Steve Adams
  • Dean Ramsbottom
  • Andrew Grinyer

Membership Packages and Weekly Entry Fees

Membership packages have just been finalized and available for download.  WRKC is making provisions to accept digital membership packages and payment. Print print the full package, sign all required forms and complete page 2 details.  You can either mail the completed packages to the name and address on the bottom of page 2 or scan and email to [email protected].   Registration will not be accepted until payment is made either by cheque or e-transfer to same email address.

Weekly entry fees have been increased to $65 for all members for 2021 race days. The increase in entry fees is to offset rising weekly operation expenses. WRKC is currently investigating online pre-registration.

2021 WRKC Rules

The 2021 WRKC rules book is currently being finalized. A published rule book will be posted to the WRKC website. Hard copies of the rule books will be available at track. Some notable rules are listed below:

  • 10.1 Class Structure: The weight for Masters will be increased to 375lb for both Honda and Briggs & Stratton engines. This weight is typical for Masters classes in Ontario.
  • 16.1 Tires: Vega W5 tires will be the only wet tire allowed for all classes.  This was intended to be implemented in 2020, but due to Covid-19, it was postponed to 2021
  • 22.2 Nosecone: Jr. Light, Jr. Heavy, Sr and Masters classes require “push-back” nosecone mounting kits (1/CA/20 01/01/ET). This was intended to be implemented in 2020, but due to Covid-19, it was postponed to 2021
  • 23.2 Rear Bumpers: Steel rear bumpers will not be allowed in 2021. The 2020 rule book outlined that steel rear bumpers will not be allowed after 2020. Plastic full width rear protection will be required on all karts.

Sponsors

WRKC is currently looking for corporate, class and race day sponsors for the 2021 season. WRKC relies on sponsorship to provide affordable racing to the members. A revised sponsorship proposal has been added to the website.  If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring, please contact Jason Bowden 289-259-7296. [email protected]

Schedule

The 2021 WRKC schedule is currently being finalized. WRKC’s schedule has to be coordinated with Flamboro Speedway’s race schedule to prevent conflicts. The delay is due to the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic. WRKC intends to have a published schedule in the near future. All track configurations and race day formats are to be determined.

Storage Containers

WRKC has purchased 2 8′ x 10′ storage containers that will be rented to members. The storage containers are intended to allow members the ability to store their karts and equipment on-site without requiring weekly transport. If you are interested, please contact Jake Collison at 519-653-0647 or [email protected]
